How do you get ideas for writing music?
When writing the music for a song, I usually just find a riff that I like from jamming around on the guitar. After that, the song just seemingly develops, over time, as I continue to play around with the initial riff. As for lyrics, a topic comes to me, for whatever reason, and I just sit down and write the words that develop it.
Did you study music? How did you learn to play?
I studied piano and violin for a short time as a small child, and played flute in the band in school for a couple of years. I've never had any formal training on guitar, but have spent a lot of time sitting around trying to figure things out.
What musicians have most influenced you?
Too many to mention. But if I had to name a few, I'd have to start with Vinnie Vincent... the best 80's metal guitarist you've likely never heard of. Played with KISS briefly in the early 80's, and made a couple of solo albums. Absolutely over the top player, and a great songwriter, as well. After him, I'd say Tony Iommi, Randy Rhoads, and George Lynch.
What are some of your favorite songs to listen to?
Renaissance Means Re-Awakening.
The Renaissance was a time in history when much knowledge that was misplaced during the Dark Ages was rediscovered. It was a time of discoveries in the arts and sciences! Like men of that time period, Everett has expressed talent and knowledge in a wide area of interest! Critics have compared his play writing to that of Noel Coward! He is a successful attorney, a rock musician, an animal lover, and much more!
